Okay, you Nosy Parkers... here's some randomly selected dirt about me from my cluttered mind you may find interesting enough to read.  Enjoy, and ya'll come back soon now, you hear?

I've spent most of my life as either a student or a teacher, and as a lifelong learner, I've discovered that the ultimate place to learn the best (and worst) about our world and ourselves is at the movies and in front of the telly.  This blog is where I share my thoughts about movies and television, as well as let you in on my everyday trials, tribulations, and triumphs as a full-time (gulp) writer and full-time (yikes) human being. 

I have a B.A. in English from Yale, which means I know the rules of writing.  Which means I’ve earned the right to forget those rules, now that I’ve learned them.

I have an M.A. in Cinema Studies from NYU, which means I love film enough to have studied it full-time for two years, but no more. If I drove myself batty earning a Ph.D., I’d cease to be able to communicate with non-Cinema Studies scholars.

Besides writing doo-dads and nobly molding impressionable young minds as a prep school teacher for years, I’ve been an actress, a theatre director, a musician, and a talent agent.  The first three gave me great joy.  The last one took all that joy away, much like a Dementor.

My fianceé is B, and he looks like Nicholas Cage when he has bedhead.  What I look like with bedhead is my business, but apparently I feel I have the freedom to offer embarrassing tidbits about B.  Our relationship is just that strong, so don't be a hater.

I just want to be a good daughter, wife, mom, friend, writer, and person.  Is that so wrong?  If I manage to accomplish these things, I'll have no regrets.  As long as I get credit on my tombstone.

When B plays with his computer he makes sneaky, self-satisfied, cat that ate the canary faces.  I’m convinced he’s going to sit me down one of these days, hand me a highball, instruct me to drink it in one gulp, and then tell me he’s Mr. Bond, aka Agent 227, code name Jackeé.

I adore the word obsessed.  Probably because of the movie Broadcast News.  Other filmfans will know what I mean.  Course, everything I like is usually because of a movie... at least that's B's Jungian analysis.  I think he’s encouraged me to put all those thoughts down in this blog just to get me to stop throwing esoteric film references his way and instead, put them on you.  I loathe the word salve.  Not because of a movie. Don't question me.  It's vile. 

I'm a compulsive list-maker.  That got me into deep doody with a roommate of mine once upon a time... she thought my grocery list on the refrigerator was some sort of declaration of war, when I honestly would never have remembered we needed those things if I hadn't written them down.  I may have adult ADD, but I'm not that passive aggressive.  But it's okay, really... call me any names you want.  I don't mind.

Any movie with Winona Ryder voice-over narration is bad news. Don’t go there, or “you’ll never be the same after that summer.”

Hugh Laurie, aka House, M.D./Bertie Wooster is sheer perfection and he is invited to my love shack anytime.  B has accepted this.

I have a theory that the people at Pixar have sold their collective soul to Satan… their animation is just too damn good, damn it.

Apple is slowly and stealthily taking over the world, and I was its willing and loyal subject until they endorsed Lindsay Lohan’s movie, I Know Who Killed Me.  Puke.

My favorite flavors are green apple, blood orange, and artificial watermelon.  The watermelon has to be artificial.  Real watermelon tastes like ass.  Watery ass.
